DISTRICT #3 BOARD MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 8, 2002

 Meeting called to order at 1836 hrs by Debbie Baron, Chair, at St. Michael’s.

Minutes for July 11, 2002 were approved unanimously.

 INTRODUCTIONS:

 CORRESPONDENCE:

 AED letters are here for Essex Junction, Grand Isle, Huntington, Richmond and Vergennes who were eligible and approved for AED grants in this district.

 Advisory from EMS Office re: suspicious contacts.  Please post this advisory in your station and provide copy to your local fire department as well.

 Vermont Teddy Bear Factory may be donating bears for EMS again, sponsored by BCBS.  More information will follow at the next meeting.

 TREASURER REPORT:

 Motion made by Jim, 2^nd by Jessica to approve Treasurer Report.  Approved unanimously.

 MEDICAL DIRECTION:

Glucometer “Elite” protocol is approved and given out at this meeting.  Okay to go on-line with glucometer.  If your squad wants to use another type of glucometer, you must write a protocol and have it approved by Medical Direction. 

DNR sheets are in process with approval expected in September.

A computer will be available in the radio room soon with software to read the Zoll cards.  The software project for the run sheets is about 6-9 months away.  Will let squads know when the Zoll software is up and running.

MHCIC:

Appreciate squads’ cooperation with all the construction and busy ER.  Reminder to describe patient condition well in your radio report so they can prioritize to the proper room.  Vitals, specific info at least 10 minutes out and prior to asking for orders.  Code 99 confirmation should be given as quickly as possible, can give update later.

MCI:

Need members for this committee.  Only 1 interested so far.  Mike Richard will contact Terry Francis to see if he has interest.

School bus and students drill scheduled for September 15 in the Islands.

Mock grandstand collapse drill scheduled for August 20, 6 p.m. at Fairgrounds-Essex.  Need volunteer patients of all ages.

POLICY AND PROCEDURES:  No report.  No problems reported.

LOGISTICS:  No report.  No problems reported.

TRAINING:

EMT-I fall class is full with 5 on the wait list.  Squads can continue to submit applications and Greg will add them to the wait list, first come first serve.  First class is August 26.

Combi-tube class is Richmond on Tuesday has openings.  Contact Greg.  Future combi-tube classes:

            UVM               Sept. 19 & 26                          6:30-9:30                     Pending

            Essex               Oct. 9 & 16                             6:30-9:30                     Confirmed

EMT-B summer class is completed.

Recertification exam in October.  Debbie will check with Peter Kibell to see if he will coordinate this.

Still need a District Training Coordinator.  Please contact Debbie Baron if you have interest in this position.

OLD BUSINESS:

Motion made by Pat, 2^nd by Sean for Susan Blanton as Clerk.  Approved unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS:

License renewals coming up soon.  If there are any problems, please let the Board know so they can be worked out.  Licenses need to be to the Board 1 month prior to their due date at the State office.  Suggest squads start working on their data soon.  We will know more information about when the forms will be ready from the State by the next meeting.

Champlain Valley Fair Coverage – Wear your uniform from the squad where you are a current member.  To get special event tickets, you will need to do a minimum of 4 shifts.

MS bike-a-thon from Sand Bar through Lamoille County this weekend.

Next District Board meeting will be held in Hall of Fame room, St. Michael’s College on September 12 at 1830 hours.
