Meeting called to order at 1837
Moment of Silence for all EMS, Police, Fire personnel lost in tragedies of 9/11/01
Minutes of last months meeting accepted with no changes or questions
Introductions: Mike Akerland- new rep from Colchester Rescue
Correspondence: none
Treasurer: no report- tabled until next month
Medical Direction: DNR form clarification. They are being used in the field.
Fletcher Allen:
Please give reports by phone as soon as you can. Make sure all pertinent information is given.
If DNR give how the patient’s condition falls under the protocol.
Stamp the state forms with patients MRN # .
Remember professionalism over the radio.
Computer trainings will soon be available.
Gil- Still looking for input on how to give feedback to squads from calls.
The ED is collecting data again for Q&A.
Question - How are nurses identified for the report? Gil said to ask the person.
Cold weather is coming again. Remember the door issue.
Gil has been working with housekeeping on bloody equipment.

Training:
-Peter Keibel and Chris McCarthy- recert dates will probably be early November. (Announced via e-mail as 10/31 and 11/4.)
-2 Combitube classes are coming up.
-Colchester Rescue is holding a CPR Instructor course at the end of Oct. Please contact Scott at Colchester Rescue if interested in registering. Candidates must pass BLS skills test on the first night.
-Vergennes First Responder class led by Bill Clark. Course proposal accepted.
-EMT- I new course for during the day was proposed and accepted. $525 includes the text 16 student limit.
-In district 3 there will be no old EMT-I courses taught.
-EMT-I entrance exam Sept. 29th at 1800 in Rowell.
-On applications for EMT-I courses please identify whether you are registering for the day or evening class.
-The EMT-I class is eligible for 6 credits in the spring when the course finishes.
-EMT-I transition course is being planned to follow the present course. October 20-December 8. Course content will be the same. Information to be posted on the listserve. The course was accepted.

EMT Basic
19-20 Students Chris
19-20 students in Kate’s Tues/Thurs class.
Weds evening class did not have enough students to continue.
Question raised about the need for personal equipment for the class: this was done for BSI.
-Sat. 10/4 8:30-5 When Violence Erupts $95 (text included) Call Pat to sign up.
-EMT-I course members who are in the night class and would like to take the day course instead please call Greg if you would like to switch.
-VSAC may be able to provide assistance to take EMT-I class.
Old business: none
New business- there is a new events calendar set up. Suggestion that 1-2 people per service be responsible for posting events.
