 Medical Direction (Weimersheimer/James) 

• Facilitated Online Medical Direction
  • Nitro & Epi – real time discussion with MD; ask for attending when initiating update.
  • All other drugs - patients that meet indications are approved immediately via ED Communications Center.

Training Coordinator (Ziter)

• Update on current courses
  • EMT-I ’03 underway with 19 students at IREMS on Mondays/Thursdays
  • EMT-B two day/week with 25 students at UVM on Mondays/Thursdays
  • EMT-B one day/week on Tuesdays with 7 registrants and insufficient applicants; TOs should submit applications to IREMS ASAP (656-3489)
• EMT-Intermediate Transition Courses
  • Fall 2004 course cancelled due to low enrollment
  • January 2005 Monday evenings begins 1/03/05; applications due 12/15/04
  • VTEMS Conference Workshop 3/30-3/31, 4/01/05; applications via VTEMS Conference mailing in early 2005
  • April 2005 Monday evenings begins 4/04/05; applications due 3/15/05
  • Any questions regarding EMT-I Transition, call IREMS (656-3489) for Pat Malone or Jackie Goss.  Application is downloadable from District website.
• Fall recertification dates:

  • EMT’s expiring prior to these dates should request an extension from VTEMS or investigate a recert session in another district.

• (Dusha) Regional Planning Meeting:
  • Homeland Security Project
    • Exercise Program Project developing
    • Communication subcommittee struggling for solutions, but needs are clearly identified
    • Risk Assessment has outside consultant input
    • Critical Infrastructure is law enforcement oriented and completed
  • Overall County-wide Plan
    • Discussion with towns
    • Requesting copies of existing plans from communities
    • Best plan:  assist communities with development of sound plans
  • District #3 MCI Plan

Committee on Committees (Malone)

• Presentation of accepted changes in by-law format; edits to be posted with minutes.
• Membership of newly formed committees tabled until next month.
• Motion to amend as per discussion and publish new draft (Jones/Baron).  Motion carried.

New Business (O’Neil)

• (Malone)  Two years ago, Greg Thweatt & Mike O’Keefe designed a research project to explore learning online for EMS.  Several folks from VTEMSD#3 participated and assisted with the project.  Tonight, Greg & Mike are in Hollywood, CA with a poster presentation of the project at the annual National Association of EMS Educators Conference. 
• CPR Instructor Course to be held 10/1-3/04 at Porter Medical Center.  Contact Charlene Phelps for more information (453-3461).
• CPR Instructor Course planned at the Colchester Training Site, more information to follow.
• Next meeting October 14, 2004 @ 1830 – St. Michael’s College, Tarrant Center, Hall of Fame room.
