MEDICAL DIRECTION:

A draft for a District #3 Policy for C-spine immobilization during transport was presented.

A formal statement is being requested to keep the laryngoscope and McGill forceps on ambulances.

The computer for the Zoll download is in and should be on line shortly.

The final review of the DNR protocol is scheduled for November.

MHCIC:

It was reported that services are not giving reports early enough.  The hospital needs more notification when possible.

Also there has been some problems with inaccurate initials and DOB, this is important so that the correct records can be obtained prior to arrival.

All state forms need to be stamped with the patients medical record card.  If the card is not available then put the medical record number on the form in the intended box.

Reports of missing equipment is ongoing.  Please be sure that all of your equipment is labeled and attempt to retrieve your equipment before you leave if possible.

POLICY AND PROCEDURES:

            Nothing to report

LOGISTICS:

An updated response list was given to BFD to review with changed due to BFD#2 now being in service.  This is to be reviewed and brought back to the November meeting.

 MCI:

South Hero and Grand Isle had an MCI drill involving a car and school bus.   The report was that overall it was a good drill, with a few logistics problems.

 TRAINING:

Still seeking a candidate for the position of the Training Chair.

The EMT Basic class has 36 students and is on tract.

The EMT-I class is full - they will be starting IV work and the students need support at the squad level.

The one night per week EMT-B class will be held.  The starting date is November 5th and will be limited to 24 students.  It was reported that there are already more than            24 applications submitted.

The First Responder to EMT ECA module class will start on October 21st.  There were 8 students at the time of this meeting.

The last Combi-Tube training class is completing in Essex.  At this time over 75% of  the EMT-Is in the District have been trained.  The next class will not be scheduled             until some time next year.

Pat Malone announced that an EMT-B class will be held at the Husky Corporation in Milton.  Husky will be paying and will accept some people from outside to fill up 18 slots.  They will be associated with Milton Rescue.  The class is being scheduled to start November 18th and will be held on Monday and Wednesday.  The class will end in May and they will test with the spring EMT-B class.  Charlene Phelps will be the lead instructor.   A motion to accept this class was made by Chris Putnam and seconded by Amy            Wasielewski.  The motion passed.

There is an updated application for EMT classes.  Please download it from the WEB and use only the new one.  Send the applications to the appropriate class coordinator, the address are on the form..

The EMT Recert exam is scheduled for October 17th and 22nd.

A letter is to be drafted to the state concerning the level of support we have received on this years recert testing dates.  Greg Thweatt stated that one reason for the problem   with the recert dates was that the State received the request for exam from late from him.

Brian Wellnetz is holding a practical retest for the First Responder course

OLD BUSINESS:

The licenses were not sent out at the time of this meeting.  However they are being received as I am doing the minutes (10/23).  Please have completed as soon as possible.   They need to be reviewed and voted on at the November board meeting, as they are required to be back into the State by December 1st.

NEW BUSINESS:

The District Board Meetings will be scheduled for next year at St Mikes again.

Lee will bring in a proposal about either continuing Moe Leahy as the Vice Chair or how to fill the position.  Moe is leaving her job at South Burlington Fire Department             to go back to school and will no longer be representing a squad.  The bylaws require the chair and vice chair be the district representatives to the board from their respective             squads.
