TREASURER REPORT
Checkbook Balance $23,597.59
Merrill Lynch $12,034.62
The Finance Committee has come up with a suggestion on a worthwhile use of some of the
funds that are in the Merrill Lynch account. It was suggested by Pat Malone that the District
use some of the funds to help provide furnishings for the new EMS Rural Initiative building.
It is anticipated that we will probably move some of the EMT classes to this new facility when
it is opened. Please give feed back to your District Rep is you feel that this would be a good
investment for the District Funds. These have been building for the past 6 to 7 years.
MEDICAL DIRECTION:
The Combi Tube initiative is progressing. It is being piloted in St Johnsbury and Central Vermont this fall and is expected to be state wide by the first of the year or shortly after. There will be training required.
Wayne Misselbeck announced that additional faculty members joining the ER team and that he will be working more in the background. Dr. Weimersheimer along with Dr. Sue Elliott (a new member of the staff) will be handling more of the EMS activities.
MHCIC:
The FAHC ER will be offering flu shots to any EMT that would like to have one. Starting
October 16, 1999 Gil will have the vaccine available. If Gil is not there, then you can ask the
charge nurse. You will need to allow about 15 minutes, as you have to wait that long to see
if you will have any reaction. There will not be any charge for the shot.
The ambulance bay was painted and the labels on the lockers have been redone.
The Zoll computer has been moved into the radio room. This move was made so that help
will be available if you are having problems downloading your cards. Also spare Zoll Memory cards are available if you can not get yours downloaded for any reason. These will have to be signed out. Whoever is on duty in the radio room will have access to the cards and will also have the sign out log. You should also have your cards labeled, with an indelible ink pen. Remember this is just a loaner.
If you have the need for a spare card, the District bought some extras when the ones were purchased for the loaner program. If you would like one or more you can contact Lee Jones
at lee.jones@prodigy.net or 769-2963 day time. There are 7 cards available and they are
$47.60 per card. These are 8Mg cards. The checks should be made out to the District.
A reminder for any squad that is contemplating buying a new defibrillator, there is a District
policy that addresses this issue. All district reps will have a copy in November. This is not a new policy, so you may have a copy in your squad.
POLICY AND PROCEDURES:
Lee still has some extra inserts to the new book, so if you need one please let him know.

MCI:
Redbird was reported to have gone well. The drill started at 09:20 and was finished by
12:00.
A comment on the drill, communications was not great between EMS, Fire Dept., Airport, National Guard, etc. This is due to mainly to not having a common frequency.
A formal presentation is planned to provide the EMS VIEW at the next case review on
November 16, 1999.
The Air Guard is still compiling feedback for a mid November review.
E-911:
No Report
TRAINING:
Additional discussion on the District 3 Policy for Course requirements will be needed on the first draft before it is brought to the Board for a vote.
It was suggested that squads might want to develop a WEB page and link it to the District
Web page. Things to post would be recruitment, training sessions, etc.
OLD BUSINESS:
Memory cards for the Zoll Defibrillators - The memory cards were purchased, see the MHCIC section for details
The District Fund raiser that was suggested by Wendy Struble was decided to be pursued in the spring. This will be addressed at a later time.
NEW BUSINESS:
Richmond will be the site of the State Wide Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 6,
1999.
A motion was made by Maureen Leahy and seconded by Susan Blanton to cancel the December Meeting. Motion Passed.
Due to the cancellation of the December meeting ambulance licenses will have to be mailed
in. Also any applications for the Winter EMT-B/EMT-I classes will have to be into Pat or
Greg by the second Thursday of December, December 9, 1999.
