Colchester Rescue

Service Description: Colchester Rescue (CRS) is a licensed Intermediate level ambulance service composed of 40 volunteer members and 3 paid full-time members. The paid full-time members run Monday - Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the volunteer members cover evenings and weekends. Colchester Rescue serves the Town of Colchester, an area of approximately 35 square miles along with Malletts Bay Fire Department, Colchester Center Volunteer Fire Company, St. Michael's Fire and Rescue and Colchester Police Department. Like the fire departments, Colchester Rescue responds mutual aid to other towns including Essex, Milton, Winooski and Burlington. In addition to providing emergency medical services to the town, Colchester Rescue also staffs a Technical Rescue Team comprised of members of the Rescue Squad and Colchester Police Department. The Technical Rescue Team maintains proficiency in Dive/Ice Rescue, Mountain Search and Rescue, Rope Rescue, Confined Space and Swiftwater Rescue and is recognized statewide for its work.
